Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Ciaz and Brezza to be launched on July 29, it will also get K15B petrol engine

Maruti Suzuki will launch the BS6 variant of its popular hatchback S-Cross in India on 29 July. Its sale will also start from this day itself. This was the last model of the company to be converted from BS4 to BS6. The company showcased the petrol-powered Maruti Suzuki S-Cross at the Auto Expo 2020, to be launched in April but postponed due to the epidemic.

What is the biggest change in the BS6S-Cross?

The first BS4 Compliant S-Cross used to get a 90-horsepower 1.3-liter diesel engine known as the ‘National’ engine of India – it was discontinued rather than upgraded to the new Emission Norms. Now the S-Cross will get a petrol engine, which is similar to the Vitara Brezza. The S-Cross will use the Suzuki K15B petrol engine, previously seen in the Ciaz, it generates 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque and comes standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The new automatic gearbox option will be new to the S-Cross range. The petrol engine can also come with a 4-speed torque-converter automatic. While the BS4 S-Cross was only available with mild-hybrid technology with a diesel manual, however, in BS6 version this technology will only be seen in the automatic gearbox version. The automatic gearbox will be offered in the top three variants of the S-Cross petrol. It will have a total of four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.

Apart from this, what will be new in the new S-Cross petrol?

Apart from the new powertrain, the new S-Cross is the same inside and out as before. It was last refreshed in 2017 and is now at the end of its life cycle. It is likely to be replaced with a mid-size SUV derived from the Futuro-e concept SUV showcased at the Auto Expo.

How much can the new S-Cross petrol cost?

Compared to the old diesel-powered model, which costs between Rs 8.81 and Rs 11.44 lakh, the new S-Cross petrol is likely to be priced slightly lower. It is expected that the price of S-Cross petrol will be between Rs 8.5-11.5 lakh and it will be seen directly from the petrol-only Reno Duster which is priced between Rs 8.49-10.00 lakh.
