Facebook in preparation to hide likes, purpose – to reduce social pressure and depression of users

On Thursday, social media platform Facebook said that it is going to remove the feature of Like from its platform. The company says that removing it will reduce social pressure from users. Testing of the Like Hyde feature will begin on Friday. After testing, it will be rolled out for users. Currently, like, reaction and view count will be visible to the old users. Its testing will be first started in Australia.

Facebook has removed the likes from Instagram as well

  • The company says that we will do some tests, after which the likes, reactions and video counts will be made private. The company said that they will collect people’s reactions so that it can be found out how much Facebook Like User Experience has changed.
  • This is not the first time the company is taking such a step to reduce the depression caused by people getting social pressure or low likes. Last year, Facebook also highlighted the Like button from its photo messaging site Instagram. It was first released in May to Canadian users. Later it was also released for users from Ireland, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Facebook says that we want to make our platform a place where users feel comfortable and can express their desires better. Instead of counting likes on Facebook, he should focus on sharing photos and videos.
