Asus is gearing up for the global unveiling of its highly anticipated Asus ROG Phone 8 series at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Leaks and speculations have pointed to the lineup consisting of the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, successors to the previous series that included a base variant and an ‘Ultimate’ edition. Building excitement, the company has officially teased the display design of the base model and announced the India launch date for the ROG Phone 8.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Asus India revealed that the Asus ROG Phone 8 will make its debut in India on January 8, coinciding with its global unveiling at CES 2024. The post featured a teaser video showcasing the upcoming model with an “edgeless frame,” highlighting slimmer bezels compared to its predecessors. While the post focused on the ROG Phone 8, it did not clarify if the ROG Phone 8 Pro model would also be launched in India.
Previous leaks have shed light on key details of the Asus ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. Both devices are expected to run on Android 14-based ROG UI and feature 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panels, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pro model is anticipated to support HDR10 and boast a high refresh rate of up to 165Hz.
Asus has officially confirmed that the ROG Phone 8 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The base model is expected to offer configurations with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, while the higher-end variant may come in configurations of 16GB and 24GB of RAM, along with 512GB and 1TB of inbuilt storage.
The Pro model of the Asus ROG Phone 8 lineup is rumored to feature a robust triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto shooter. Additionally, the front camera of the ROG Phone 8 Pro is said to boast a 32-megapixel sensor. However, specific camera details for the base model are yet to be disclosed.
Both Asus ROG Phone 8 models are expected to pack powerful 5,500mAh batteries, supporting Quick Charge 5.0 and PD charging. Moreover, leaks suggest an IP68 rating for dust and splash resistance, ensuring durability and reliability for gaming enthusiasts.
