E-commerce website Flipkart has started rolling out its video streaming service. Currently, it has been released only for Android users. Flipkart will challenge Amazon’s Prime subscription service available in the Indian market through it. The company announced its service last month only after which the company has started rolling it out for users. It has videos and movies of Voot, Arre, Viu and TVF available on Samay Flipkart Video Service.
Flipkart Head Growth and Monetization Prakash Sikaria say that we have designed our video service based on three main things, including free, curated and personalized, given the market demand. Our main objective is that customers do not have to pay much money to watch premium content, so we want to give our customers some of the services currently available.
Walmart’s proprietary company Flipkart has started releasing its video streaming service which is initially only available to Android app users. To use this new service, Flipkart users will have to download the latest version 6.17 in their Android smartphones.
Rival company Amazon charges Rs 999 annually for its streaming service Amazon Prime in India. If a user wants to take a monthly subscription then he has to pay 129 rupees every month. Amazon Prime subscribers also receive speedy delivery of goods purchased from the platform. Flipkart currently has 150 million users. The company wants to increase its number to 35 crores in the coming years. For this, it is also targeting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities of the country.
