Instant messaging app Whatsapp is about to release a new picture-in-picture feature for its Android users. In this feature, users will be able to watch Wattsapp videos continuously on pop-up windows, switching from one chat to another chat. Apart from this, the user will still be able to watch the video while the Whatsapp app is running in the background. At the moment, this new background playback function will be released only for Android users. This is part of Whatsapp’s beta version program, which is being tested.
The Picture-in-Picture feature was released for Android users of Whatsapp, in December 2018, but so far this feature was able to view video in the pop-up windows in individual chat or group chat. However, WhatsApp users of iPhoneAs were able to watch videos continuously by switching to multiple chats from January 2018.
The team of Whatsapp is now continuously working to upgrade its original picture-in-picture feature. The company will release new updates of its Android user, which will be able to watch a video on a pop-up window while switching to multiple chats, and the video can be seen even when it goes to the home screen. It will be seen similarly to the videos of Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
According to WABetaInfo reports, the Picture-in-Picture feature is part of Whatsapp beta version 2.19.177. It is expected that this update will allow Android users to have a background video playback function.
