No car was sold in the country in April, for the first time in history; Things are not expected to improve in May

Covid-19 epidemic has broken the back of all businesses in the country. The condition of the auto sector has worsened the most due to Coronavirus. No car has been sold by the Indian automobile industry so far in April. This is the first time in history when not a single car has been sold. Everyone had the same condition, from Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest car selling company in the country to luxury car selling Mercedes, Skoda.

Crisis on the auto sector

About this, Maruti Suzuki’s RC Bhargava, TVS Motor’s Venu Srinivasan, Mahindra & Mahindra’s Pawan Goenka, and other leading auto industry executives said that sales are not expected to improve next month. Due to this, the auto sector is likely to face a prolonged crisis. Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava said similar situations are expected in May. It also depends on how the virus of Kovid-19 progresses.

No car sold by Skoda

Jack Hollis, the head of Skoda Car Company, said in a tweet that he did not sell any car in April. He wrote that this is the first time in the last 30 years that we have not sold a single car. I am seeing this for the first time during my career. I hope the auto industry makes a comeback soon.

Explain that the showrooms of all the companies are closed with Maruti Suzuki, Hunzai, Tata. Let us know that the lockdown was imposed in the country from March 25, after which all the showrooms are closed. The 21-day lockdown has been extended to 3 May.

Waiting for the situation to return to normal, the
country’s auto industry directly or indirectly employs over 40 million people (about 40 million). At the same time, it contributes 8% to the country’s GDP and 15% to the government’s tax collection. The government had given permission to start factories outside the Kovid-19 hotspot, but automakers have not started their plants yet. They are waiting for the situation to return to normal.

Coronavirus, which declined 46% in March, started showing its effect in March. In such a situation, sales of cars started getting affected from March itself. Sales of car companies like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, the largest car sellers in the country, fell by up to 46 percent. Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava said there will be a big drop in sales figures in the month of April. This is the first month when not a single car has been sold. While many companies showcased their new models with Maruti during the February Auto Expo 2020 event.
