Motorola One debuts in Brazil with Android 10 update, comes with February 2020 security patch: report

Motorola One was launched in the second half of 2018 as the first company phone under Google’s Android One program. Motorola had tied up with Google’s Android One program to bring a customized version of Android and the latest updates to their smartphones, something the Lenovo-owned company was trailing. Now, although the Android One program was launched to bring the latest Android version to the Motorola smartphone, the Motorola One still has not received the Android 10 update. This is now changing as Motorola has reportedly started rolling out Android 10 update to Motorola One starting with Brazil.

According to a report in XDA Developers, which first reported on the rollout of the update, Motorola One has started receiving Android 10 updates in Brazil. The firmware number on this Android 10 update is QPK30.54-22, and is as old as the February 2020 security patch for Motorola One. According to Motorola’s global portal in Brazil, the update started on 25 March.

The Motorola One Android 10 update has also been pointed out on Twitter by many users. The official Twitter handle of Motorola Brazil also confirmed the development in its response to users who took to Twitter to indicate the update. According to a report by Piunicab, Motorola Brazil announced the update on its official Twitter handle earlier this month. However, none of the Motorola One users in the country were reported to have received the update until the recent announcement.

The XDA report further noted that Motorola’s February 2020 security patch has come at a time when manufacturers like Samsung are already rolling out the April 2020 security patch. It said that the delay was due to Lenovo’s decision to distribute the final beta build as a stable version. Motorola One Power, which was launched alongside Motorola One, received its Android 10 update in December last year.

Motorola One received its Android 9 update in December 2018, two months after the phone was launched. The phone was launched in 2018, and was the first of the Motorola One range smartphones. The phone came with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and sported a 5.9-inch HD + Max Vision LCD display with a 19: 9 aspect ratio. Motorola One is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, with 64GB of internal storage with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. To recall, the Motorola One was launched in India in March 2019.
