Oppo, the renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has recently bolstered its ColorOS with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. At a dedicated AI strategy conference held on Monday, Oppo unveiled a slew of innovative features, signaling a significant advancement in user experience. These new AI-powered functionalities are set to debut through the ColorOS New Year Edition update in China, with plans for rollout to Oppo and OnePlus handsets.
During the conference, Oppo disclosed a comprehensive list of smartphones slated to receive the AI-infused ColorOS update first. However, there’s currently no indication whether these features will extend to the global version of the operating system.
The unveiled AI features, showcased through various posts on Weibo, bear resemblance to those found in flagship devices like the Google Pixel 8 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series, leveraging advancements in AI technology. Oppo’s ColorOS update is expected to introduce over 100 AI features to supported devices, enhancing user productivity and convenience.
Among the notable additions is the AI Deletion feature for images, reminiscent of the magic eraser functionality seen in the Pixel 8 series. This innovative tool enables users to effortlessly remove unwanted elements from photos, leveraging AI-powered object detection.
Additionally, the update introduces an AI Call Summary feature, allowing users to initiate “smart consumption” during calls, with the AI analyzing conversation content and providing a detailed summary post-call.
Furthermore, Oppo has placed particular emphasis on Xiaobu, the voice-enabled assistant in ColorOS, enhancing its dialogue and speech capabilities using generative AI. Xiaobu now boasts an array of new skills, enabling it to perform complex tasks and assist users more effectively. The addition of Xiaobu Photo Studio and AI Greeting Cards feature further enhances the assistant’s utility, empowering users to create personalized AI-generated content seamlessly.
Initially, these AI features will be available on 16 smartphones across Oppo and OnePlus brands through the ColorOS update, limited to devices in China. This includes recent releases such as the Oppo Find X7 series, Reno 11 series, OnePlus 12, and more, ensuring a wide reach among users eager to experience the latest advancements in AI technology.
As Oppo continues to innovate and enhance its ColorOS ecosystem, users can anticipate a more intelligent and intuitive smartphone experience, driven by the power of AI.
