The GSM Association, a global organization of telecom companies, has decided to cancel the Mobile World Congress 2020 due to health concerns related to the corona virus. The event was to take place in Barcelona. GSMA has been organizing the event in Barcelona since 2006. In this program, ministers from different countries, policy makers and telecom companies and their officials discuss the changes in technology with telecom.
Companies like Vodafone, Cisco had retreated
The GSM Association said in a statement that MWC Barcelona 2020 has been canceled to have a safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and Spain. It is impossible for GSMA to conduct this event due to concerns with the corona virus. Due to the Corona virus spreading in China, many sponsors and big companies had opted out of the program. These companies include Vodafone, Cisco, LG, Vivo, NTT DoCoMo, Sony, Amazon, Facebook, MediaTek etc. The Mobile Congress was to be held from 24 to 27 February.
