The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the much-awaited successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which was launched in November 2020. While the upcoming octa-core SoC is yet to be announced by Qualcomm, it has been spotted on two popular benchmarking websites. Reports suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could be equipped with an advanced Cortex-X4 prime core with a peak clock speed of 3.7GHz and a total of seven cores.

Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be a powerful processor that will bring significant performance upgrades over its predecessor. While details about the chipset remain scarce, a recent Weibo post claims that the octa-core CPU could be comprised of one prime core paired with five performance cores and two efficiency cores. Furthermore, the post also carries a screenshot of another user listing Geekbench and AnTuTu performance scores of the rumoured chipset.

Benchmark Scores Reveal Significant Performance Upgrades

The Geekbench 6 single- and multi-core tests yielded scores of 2,563 and 7,256 points, respectively. The GPU test score stands at 8.621 points, but the post doesn’t mention whether this is the OpenCL or the Vulkan test. Similarly, the AnTuTu score of 1,712,271 suggests that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be a lot faster than its predecessor.

Qualcomm Yet to Make Any Official Announcement

Although the Weibo post claims that there are “just over 200 days” to the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm is yet to make any announcement on this front. However, the flagship smartphone chipset could be unveiled by the company at its annual summit that is expected to be held in Hawaii later this year.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is likely to be a powerful processor with improved performance over its predecessor. We will have to wait for Qualcomm to make an official announcement to know the full details about the upcoming chipset.
