Redmi Note 8 teaser Snapdragon 665 SoC, the quad-rear camera with 48-megapixel primary shooter

The details of the new Redmi Note 8 have surfaced online before the launch of the smartphone. The teaser published on the company’s official Weibo page suggests that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 processor, one step above the Snapdragon 660 SoC found on the Redmi Note 7S. In addition, Redmi general manager Lu Weibing shared camera samples of the Redmi Note 8, as well as confirmed that the phone will sport a quad-camera setup similar to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, but will be equipped with a 48-megapixel main sensor The 64-megapixel primary shooter on the Pro model.

Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand took to Weibo to announce that the Redmi Note 8 would align vertically with quad rear camera setup and a dual-LED flash with cameras. The post shows that the phone will sport a 48-megapixel main sensor, super wide-angle camera, depth of field sensor and super macro lens.

The photo shared with the teaser shows the Redmi Note 8 back panel and does not feature a rear fingerprint sensor. This may mean that the phone can sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. The image also shows that the phone will sport a white gradient panel finish but it should also come in other color models at launch.

Weibing has also shared camera samples on its Weibo account showing the camera capabilities of the Redmi Note 8. Looking at the photos, it seems that the Redmi Note 8 is capable of taking good quality night shots without any loss. Weibing also confirms that the Redmi Note 8 series will be equipped with a Super Night Scene mode that will help users take better low-light photos.

Specifications of Redmi Note 8

Finally, the Redmi Weibo account also confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC, paired with an Adreno 610 GPU, a third-generation AIE artificial intelligence engine with Hexagon 686 DSP, and Hexagon Vector Extension (HVX). The Redmi Note 8 series is all set to launch on August 29. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is confirmed to sport a 64-megapixel rear sensor, a Helio G90T processor and a larger 4,500mAh battery.
