Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy S10 to receive Android 10 beta in October: report

Ever since Google officially released Android 10, non-pixel users have been wondering when to expect a new Android version on their phones. OnePlus and Xiaomi have already launched beta versions for their flagship devices. However, Samsung has been infamous for delayed upgrades. But, the company is clearly set to change this year.

According to a report by Sammobile, Samsung is going to roll out the Android 10 beta program by the end of the month for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 devices. Then, the first beta build is going to take place in the US and some European countries in October.

You can expect a lot of beta builds before the final release. However, reportedly, by the end of the year, the 2019 Samsung flagship phone will be updated with the final build on Android 10.

Android 10: What to expect

System-wide dark mode

As everyone and their uncles implement dark mode in apps and operating systems, Android 10 now has official system-wide support for it. To enable dark mode, you can either go to Quick Settings or System Settings. This will replace some third-party applications as well as most Google apps in their Dark Mode UI. If the Dark Mode tile does not appear in the Quick Settings, you must edit the menu to bring it up.

Privacy controls

Security and privacy were among the important features that Google Android 10 is highlighting. Permission Manager has been given an update so that you can know which apps are currently using your location and decide accordingly whether you want to allow it all the time or only when you are using the application.

Suggested Actions on Android 10.

Gesture-based navigation system

Probably the biggest change coming to Android is the removal of the back button from the lower navigation bar. Now, instead of navigation bars, users have to use gestures. A thin white strip is present at the bottom and swiping up will take you to the home screen. Swiping from the left or right edge of the screen will, therefore, be considered ‘action’.

To invite Google Assistant, you can swipe diagonally from the bottom corners. Recent apps or multi-tasking views are easy to obtain and all you have to do is swipe from bottom to top. All of these gestures will require some learning and to make it more user-friendly, Google has implemented an in-depth customizer for the gestures so that it does not mess with other apps that you are using.

Smart answers in notifications

With integrating Smart Reply into a notification system, you will be able to make direct calls, open addresses directly on maps, or open links directly from the browser in the browser without opening the app. This feature is now enabled for text messages received from any messaging app. So if someone shares a link with you, the information system will recognize that it is a website and it will give you the option to open it in your default web browser. You do not even have to open a text message.

There are many more expected updates that have not yet gone live. Live captions, theme customization, in-built screen recorder, native desktop mode, etc. are hidden in the “developer options” (except live captions) and are still in their experimental phase.
