Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 16 series at its highly anticipated “It’s Glowtime” event at Apple Park. The new lineup introduces a host of cutting-edge features, including enhanced photography with a new Camera Control button and advanced AI capabilities powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple also revealed the pricing and availability of the iPhone 16 series across India, Japan, the US, and more.
Apple has officially launched the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, successors to last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models. Both come with Titanium designs, new A18 Pro chip, and larger displays, with the Pro model featuring a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max boasts the largest-ever 6.9-inch display on an iPhone. Both support 120Hz ProMotion technology for smooth scrolling and gaming experiences.
The Apple A18 Pro chip features a 3nm transistor design with a 16-core neural engine, optimized for machine learning tasks and large generative models, making it 2x faster for ML tasks. With 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, it is 15% faster than the previous A17 Pro and 20% more power-efficient. Its 6-core GPU also delivers a 20% performance boost for improved graphics in gaming and video processing.
The iPhone 16 Pro models feature a 48MP Fusion camera with a quad-pixel sensor, offering zero shutter lag for capturing detailed ProRAW and HEIF images. Both models now support 5x optical zoom in the Pro and Pro Max versions, enabling users to switch between lenses easily using the Camera Control feature. The camera also supports 4K120 video recording, offering slow-motion capabilities and multiple playback options.
Apple has introduced spatial audio capture for video recording, making playback more immersive, especially when paired with AirPods or Apple Vision Pro. Audio Mix utilizes machine learning to separate background sounds from speech, enhancing the overall video-watching experience. The Studio Mix feature simulates recording studio effects, offering a professional-grade audio output.
Apple claims the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery life ever in an iPhone, lasting up to 33 hours of video playback. Both models offer fast charging with up to 25W charging support using USB-C adapters, and battery life optimized for all-day performance.
The starting price for the iPhone 16 in India is Rs. 79,900, with the iPhone 16 Plus priced at Rs. 89,900. Interestingly, the iPhone 16 Pro models have seen a price reduction of Rs. 10,000. Here’s a breakdown of the pricing for the different iPhone 16 models:
