The much-anticipated OnePlus Open, the first foldable smartphone from the Shenzhen-based phone maker, is set to make its debut next month. Various reports and leaks have been surfacing online, giving us a glimpse of the specifications and features that this folding handset will offer. Previously rumored to be called OnePlus Fold, the phone is now tipped to be named OnePlus Open and is said to have a design similar to that of the Oppo Find N2, which was released in December last year.
Renowned tipster Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) claims that the OnePlus Open will sport a periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, and the Hasselblad-branded camera units will occupy a significant portion of the handset’s real estate. It is expected to be available in elegant Black and Green color options, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Open is rumored to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with an impressive 16GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is expected to boast a stunning 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED primary display with a buttery-smooth refresh rate of 120Hz. Additionally, it will feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover screen with the same high refresh rate.
The OnePlus Open is likely to impress photography enthusiasts with its camera capabilities. It is expected to house a versatile rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel sensor with a periscope lens for excellent zoom capabilities. On the front, the phone may sport two 32-megapixel camera sensors to elevate your selfie and video calling experiences.
The Oppo Find N2, which serves as an inspiration for the OnePlus Open’s design, features a 7.6-inch WUSXGA AMOLED main display and a 5.54-inch full-HD+ AMOLED cover panel. The OnePlus Open is expected to offer a comparable form factor, allowing users to enjoy an expansive screen when unfolded.
With its impressive specifications and cutting-edge features, the OnePlus Open is already generating excitement among tech enthusiasts. As the official launch date approaches, OnePlus is likely to reveal more details, leaving fans eagerly waiting to experience the magic of this foldable marvel.
