Airtel removes outgoing calls to other networks, outplaying Jio in the process

Bharti Airtel will no longer make voice calling on other networks with its unlimited plans starting tomorrow. On Twitter, Airtel announced that it was removing the voice calling cap on other networks with a new tariff plan launched a few days ago. For the unaware, every unlimited prepaid plan launched by Airtel earlier this week had a limit on voice calling on other networks. For example, Telco’s Rs 149 prepaid plan comes with 1,000 non-Airtel minutes for a validity period of 28 days. But there will be no such restriction on outgoing voice calls to other networks starting tomorrow. The company also said that no conditions would apply for its latest move.

Bharti Airtel removes voice calling cap for other networks

The move would come as a big relief to Bharti Airtel’s prepaid customers as they were largely disappointed by Telco’s latest move. In October this year, Reliance Jio introduced IUC top-up vouchers and started charging six paise per minute on voice calls made on other networks such as Airtel, Vodafone Idea, BSNL and MTNL. When Jio took this step, Airtel and Vodafone Idea took to social media and started teasing telco owned by Mukesh Ambani.

Nevertheless, both Airtel and Vodafone Idea said that they would charge customers for voice calls made on other networks and the fee was six paise per minute. Today, Airtel officially stated that it is removing the FUP limit from its unlimited prepaid plans. “We heard you!” And we are bringing change. Starting tomorrow, enjoy unlimited calling on any network in India with all our unlimited plans. No situation applies, ”Airtel India tweeted a few moments ago.

New Airtel prepaid plan comes with voice calling cap

For example, Airtel launched new prepaid plans with Vodafone Idea on 1 December. Airtel increased prepaid tariffs by almost 40%, but prepaid users disappointed the FUP limit on non-Airtel voice calls. As mentioned above, Telco’s Rs 149 prepaid plan comes with FUP limit on other networks like Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, BSNL and MTNL for a 1,000-minute voice call. To everyone’s surprise, Airtel today removed the FUP limit.

Bharti Airtel’s annual prepaid plan of Rs 2,498 also had a 12,000-minute FUP limit of non-Airtel mobile numbers, which disappointed many users in the country. All unlimited Airtel prepaid plans had FUP limit on non-Airtel voice calls.

Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio only offer unlimited on-net calls

Aforesaid, Reliance Jio was the first operator to introduce a limit on voice calling over on-net calls, which was recently followed by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. In August this year, BSNL started providing just 250 minutes of voice calls every day with unlimited prepaid plans. Even Jio’s new all-in-one prepaid plans have a FUP limit on non-Jio calls, so operators are very clear that they want to charge customers for outgoing voice calls made on other networks Are.

Reliance Jio’s new prepaid plans came into effect today, while prepaid users of Airtel and Vodafone Idea are forced to recharge the new plans from December 3 onwards.

In particular, Airtel and Vodafone Idea did not initiate capping or charging for voice calls made to other networks through postpaid connections.
