According to the report, the researchers bypassed the authentication feature named ‘Liveness’ to unlock the device with the help of a bug in Face ID. This feature explains iPhone’s FaceID whether the user’s face is real or fake. The Liveness feature also understands background noise, response distortion, and focus blur. It also scans the user’s eyes. If a user has glasses, then there is a change in the process of scanning the eyes.
Actually, the Apple device captures the data of the user’s face to be unlocked. In such a situation, if a user is wearing a goggle, then he is unable to collect data of the eye and the 3D detail around it. Due to this bug, Face ID can be cheated with glasses and black tape. All that is needed is to apply black tape to the inside of the glasses, after which the iPhone can be unlocked by wearing Victim.
